Back to School - first grade!

Ready to go for the first day!

Got the nifty new backpack and the lunchbox. {a} picked out the lunchbox in blue so that the boys won't make fun of it, but it's still "oshkoshish" (her word) and girlie, too - don't really know what makes something oshkoshish, but apparently that's a good thing!

The obligatory picture with the little brother.

The sun was very bright behind me taking the picture so that accounts (partially) for the odd looks on their faces!

I think we will have many of these pictures in years to come.

DAFFOD VALLE ELEMENT = Daffodil Valley Elementary :)

The first order of the day - find somewhere to sit and color.

Or if you're {a}, chat up the little girl next to you telling her about slimy eels that have teeth on their tongues (thank you very much, Discovery channel) and draw a tongue on the turtle on the coloring sheet!

More writing...not quite sure about this one!

And right before we left (sniff, sniff) - the teacher says, "Attention, thank you" and the kids all raise their hands and are quiet to listen. I think Amelia was the only one who didn't attend Daffodil last year as she was the only one who didn't know what that was immediately. Oh well - she's definitely adaptable.

Can't wait to hear about her first day!

Darling pictures, {T}. I hope she has a great day!

Our old school was a "Give me 5" school. It was amazing to watch how a noisy gymnasium of 800 kids could be quieted in 2 seconds. This mom gives a thumbs up to "Give me 5"!

They do "Give me 5" at our elementary school too. The classroom looks really cool ... {m}'s room is very similar.

I hope that {a} has an awesome year!!!!
